dosing-pump-applications
DOSECO Chemical Dosing Pumps South Africa launched the stepper-motor diaphragm pump range in response to demand for a more reliable, economical unit compared to the traditional solenoid option.
Voltage fluctuations that can burn out electronic cards are resolved by DOSECO’s unique power supply pack, which provides a 90 to 260 V AC operating range and a 24V DC option.
Positive priming, when one needs to turn down below 15%, the DOSECO SM dosing pump will not lose prime.
Dosing accuracy, even at 1% of the full design flow rate, accuracy and consistency is guaranteed.
Doseco Stepper-Motor Dosing Pumps are revolutionising the water treatment industry with affordable, accurate, reliable metering solutions.
The Doseco Dosing Pump Model SMAX 1/7 (V) is the basic Stepper motor, manual on/off pump unit. This is the unit selected when absolute minute dosages are required. The unit can accurately inject between 10 ml/hour at 7 Bar and up to the full-flow scale of 1000 ml/hour at 7 Bar. The unit is normally wired via a relay to either a PLC or another controller, or even coupled to the main water/effluent pump on/off contactor/relay. This does require setting based on the chemical’s calculated dose and the known water flow rate.
The model MOC options are as follows: SM = Stepper Motor / A = AC 90 to 260 V AC / X = PVC pump head, suction foot valve, and injection valve/(V) = Viton or (E) = EPDM seals.
The 1/7 is 1 liter per hour at 7 Bar, this pump will produce a flow of 2,2 liters per hour at 1 Bar.
The Doseco Dosing Pump Model SMAY 1/7 (V) is the basic Stepper motor, manual on/off pump unit. The Doseco Dosing Pump Model SMAX 3/7 (V) is the basic Stepper motor, manual on/off pump unit. This unit is selected where the water treatment chemical needs to be accurately metered into a pipe system pressure that is up to 6.5 Bar. The unit is usually activated when the main feed pump comes on, the dosing pump is then also switched on. This does require setting based on the dose of the chemical to the known water flow rate.

EXAMPLE:- Borehole water is pH5.2 and we need to elevate to 7 or 7.4 – Duty is pH control
EXAMPLE:- Sodium Hydroxide 12%
EXAMPLE:- The water treatment contractor estimates a maximum of 1 liter per hour
EXAMPLE:- 200 ml per hour
EXAMPLE:- The water storage tank is directly above the borehole, less than 1 bar pressure in the line.
EXAMPLE:- Normal house mains – AC 220v
The Correct and most economical DOSECO pump model for the above inquiry would be either the SMAX 3/7 (E) or the most popular SMAX 6/5 (E).
MOC Reason:- The (SM) Stepper Motor Pump is an (A) AC 220v unit with a (X) PVC pump head and the (E) EPDM seals, which are all recommended for 12.5% Caustic (Sodium Hydroxide)
FLOW/PRESSURE SELECTION Reason: The 3/7 pump will operate at 30% of the stepper frequency, so it will run whisper-quiet. Also, the minimum flow setting could be around 200ml per hour. The 3/7 will operate efficiently at just 30ml per hour, so at a setting of just 6%, this pump will accurately dose the 200ml per hour. However, if the contractor has miscalculated, there is enough room to set the pump higher to 33%. The 3/7 will produce much higher flow at only 1 Bar, so the contractor will have room to set dosage correctly.
The 6/5 is the most-purchased unit by water treatment professionals because it offers a broad range of flow/pressure options. (Ideal for a one model fits most applications point of view) At 1 Bar, the 6/5 will produce 8 liters per hour at 100% and just 80 ml per hour at 1%.
The 6/5 Stepper motor design will accurately dose the 200ml at a setting of just 3%, and if the setting needs to be 1 liter per hour, it will set to 12.5%; one will not even hear the unit operating.
The DOSECO Compact Digital Dosing Pump is capable of exceptional accuracy in the range of 60 ml to 6 liters per hour at 5 Bar line pressure
This configuration is typical of a concentrated Sodium Hypochlorite dosing application. The chemical is being dosed at a rate of anything between 500 ml and 3 liters per hour. The water line runs at 3 or 4 Bar pressure.
This unit is equipped with a switch-plug option.
The switch can be a float switch, which will stop the pump should the acid level in the supply tank drop to empty.
The switch can also be used to stop and start the pump remotely via a controller or a timer or a remote manual switch.
